W D (War Department) Generator - The War Department was part of the UK government. It gave the armed forces the equipment they needed and helped with military actions. In 1857, it was renamed the War Office. But the name "War Department" was still used for its transport services, like ships and trains.

Description: Olive green main body, chassis and cab roof; black seat; olive green daisy wheels; gold plated parts; 'W D' and '1781' in white lettering on side and rear of loadbed with '1781' on headboard; 'CORNWALLIS' in white on cab side panels; cast white-metal generator sited on a natural wooden pallet mounted on loadbed.
